I’m an ‘inspired’ domestic diva these days… Yes, I say good bye to the old recipes that just rotates weekly ( chicken curry, pasta, chikuti, sardine curry and the like). But this time, I’m actually trying out new recipes! Some are actually ‘old’ dishes but just cooking it a new way, but they do work. The more I try out, the more I get confident in the kitchen and I think it works out well too.

So for today, I tried cooking a Thai Dish called, Son in Law Egg ( khai luuk kheuy). That’s a funny name for a dish right? But it has been a favorite dish of mine after eating it first at the church for lunch. So, I tried it cooking on my own today.. and guess what, it turned out well. My ‘judges’ loved it and said it tastes the same like what we have at church. Hmmm.. now, that makes me happy!

Next in line would be Chicken Biryani, Chicken Sambal, Nasi Lemak and etc. I will try to cook more Thai and Western recipes too. :) Isn’t it obvious that I’m one excited ‘cook’ ?

This is how the Son in Law Eggs look like ( taken from google) my version will be posted soon as I still have to find the missing USB cable to download our photos from the camera.

It’s the Pioneer Woman’s site, in my opinion she’s a Domestic Diva just like Martha Stewart and the rest. She’s not just superb in her cooking but also in homeschooling, photography among other things.

I love how they’re family is living in a ranch. I could imagine them in their western boots tending the cows and the horses with their orderly home and delicious food on the table. It’s almost like the kind of the pioneer families we read in the books.

Anyways, if you haven’t visited the Pioneer Woman yet, then visit her site and be inspired to be a Domestic Diva.

For the past years, I’ve been playing on the idea of doing an online shop. But since I had another part time online work, and with smaller kids I wasn’t so serious in pursuing it. But now, since my part time online work is not doing very well I’m back to pursue the online business. I’m currently doing some sort of ‘study’ on how everything is going to work out like shipping, handling and stuff. Once I get some more information, I will try to save up and work on my capital. It won’t be much like trying to invest and gold bars at Golden Eagle but I know starting small can get me a long way.

I’m really getting excited now. A few more days to go and we’re going to Bangkok! We’re actually going there to renew my passport but since we’re staying at the city center, we will also have time to go around Bangkok. For the record, I’ve been to Bangkok like countless of time but we are usually there on transit a few times to the Philippines, Chiang Mai and Myanmar. I never got the chance to see the famous Khao San road, Sukhumvit or the Grand Palace.

So I’m looking forward for this trip because we might have a chance to go around. I already planned for us to go to Terminal 21 and Siam Paragon. Isn’t it obvious that I love the malls? Yeah, I love to hang out in malls specially the hi tech ones with beautiful interiors, elo touch monitors and wide array of restaurants. But since I just mentioned the Grand Palace, maybe I might include that in our itinerary too! )

I’m listening to a new Christian music station now – Air1. This station offers a more contemporary alternative music which not most people appreciate. I have actually learn to appreciated ‘loud’ music since my younger years because my brother used to be a part of a heavy metal band. So, most of the weekends they will be practising in our front yard while the whole neighbourhood hears the ‘music’ err noise. My brother’s band was actually quite a small band with just the basic instruments. They didn’t have rickenbacker 12 strings that time yet but I think if they continued on with the group, they could have gone a bit far. But the group disbanded after a few years.

Anyways, so that’s the ‘history’ behind my choice of alternative music at times.

I love to read books but this hasn’t been much of a priority to me after having kids and I guess, the 24/7 internet connection in the house. But for the record, I still read a few books last year. Anyways, I would love to read more books again.. I will have to make a list first of the books that I will be reading in the next few weeks and I will make sure to post my ‘To- Read List’.

I loved to be organized but then, with kids around it seems that my desire to be organized wears off. There are times when I’m in the mood to organize books, toys and other stuff complete with color coding and assortment of boxes. So, I spent hours and hours doing just that. And finally, when I’m done with my work I contentedly leave the organized shelf or room and do other chores. But as expected, when my kids enter that area, my hours of hard work is messed up in a matter of seconds. And no matter how much I ask them to arrange back the books or the toys( the legos, Tom Kuhn yoyos, dolls and etc) , it’ll never be the same as how I left it. So, there goes my ‘organized’ space..

This week is indeed better than the week has passed. As you see, we went to the Philippines last month and when we cam back here in Thailand, it took me some time to ease into our daily routine. Yes, it was like I was still on a holiday mode for almost 2 weeks!

But now, I feel in better control of our schedule now. Though not perfectly, but I’m glad to be able to accomplish the 2 major ‘tasks’ that I have to do on a daily basis – homeschooling the kids and cooking. I’m glad that I finally started homeschooling my preschooler too. Though, it’s still very informal and classes only lasts for about an hour but my son’s response towards it is very encouraging.

As for the other daily tasks like cleaning and laundry, I will tackle these a bit later. As for now, I’m glad that I’m no longer on a ‘holiday’ and I’m back to work… as a Domestic Diva (wannabe!)

As mentioned earlier, thousands of people have been affected during the Sendong Flood a few weeks ago. Most of the people whose houses have been washed away haven’t been fully settled yet. While some went back to where their houses used to stand, many are waiting for the government’s relocation site.

So, what are the needs of the flood victims now? For those whose houses have been washed away, they’re immediate need will surely be Houses and household stuff. As for those whose houses have been damaged, they will need the basic household necessities like blankets ( just the normal ones and not the heated blanket ), gas stove, gas tank and other kitchen utensils.

I do hope that the government will be quick in responding in meeting the people’s need. I just couldn’t imagine what everyone is going through right now as some of them just didn’t lose their properties but also their loved ones.
