I thought I was ready for it – entertaining guests and taking care of kids, but that afternoon turned out to be a ‘disaster’ .
You see, I invited friends to come over to our house one afternoon. I asked them to come at 3PM since I thought that my li’l boy would already be taking his afternoon nap at that time. So, I was already imagining a peaceful afternoon with friends just spending time and having chit chat over tea.
But the li’l one didn’t sleep. I guess he already knew that I was expecting some people to come and he also got excited. So, when my friends arrived he was still up and excitedly welcomed them in the house.
And then, when we were spending time talking, my kids on the other hand were busy running up and down the stairs. I couldn’t concentrate. So, I put on a movie in the computer with the hope of them watching and sitting still but only my daughter sat still. My son on the other hand, was going out side, running up and down and touching all the stuff that he was not supposed to touch. I would be sitting and listening to my friend and every 2 minutes or so, I would have to excuse myself leave them for awhile to reprimand my son, or to bring him down the stairs or bring him back inside the house. And whew! That was too stressful. I couldn’t spend time with my friends properly and I also couldn’t correct my son completely. He is also quite clever since he must have known that I’m busy with friends so he took every opportunity to be ‘free!’.
My friend even commented that with my kids so energetic, I could easily lose weight. But sad to say I didn’t. I think I could have if I took some diet supplements like the hydroxycut reviews that I read about. But anyways, my son was more energetic that time knowing that he could go beyond the boundaries with me not fully focusing my attention on him
So, in conclusion, I guess I would only invite friends over when Hubby is in the house. Or maybe next time I can just go out with friends and have a girl’s day out. I seldom have the opportunity for all these and it’ll be good if it becomes a regular thing.
