But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matt. 6:33
This verse really speaks to me these days. You see, most of the times my kids wake up with me. And when they are awake, then my busy day starts. I fix breakfast, feed them, bathe them, cook lunch, clean the house and do household chores, feed the lunch, put them to sleep, do reading lessons with my daughter, continue with household chores, then cook dinner, feed them dinner, play with them a bit, then put them to sleep.. and then at night, I’m already to tired to do anything so, I just chat with my Hubby, have prayer, use the internet, read a book and sleep. ZZzzzzz…
So, that’s how my typical day look like. During the day, I then squeeze in some time for my devotions amidst the noise of my kids and the cartoon their watching. Sometimes, I even miss to have my Bible reading and prayer. But I realized something. Whenever I do my devotions at the start of the day ( when kids are still asleep) my day would indeed be smoother, less stress and more productive.
That’s why this verse really rings true to me.. If I seek God’s Kingdom first and his righteousness ( that is doing my daily devotions, bible reading and prayer) and all these things ( more time, less stress, productivity) will be added unto me.
Lesson for the day : Put God first in everything… And for me to be able to give my undivided attention and devotion to God. I must sacrifice waking up a bit early to do this. I’m sure it will be the most significant hour of the day.
